Work Progressing Despite Rain

The Oneonta area has experienced a lot of rain this fall! Despite the wet conditions, construction on the Tom Golisano School at Springbrook is progressing fairly close to schedule.

The early part of October saw a lot of excavation and removal of topsoil on Springbrook's Main Campus. A dirt road was cleared from the school to where the three new residences will be located on the hill. Just look at the view from where the new houses will be!

Work has begun on the first of the three new residences, which will be home to eight new students each. The footings were completed the week of October 18th and the foundation will be poured this week. The foundations of houses 2 and 3 will follow and framing of the houses should start the week of Thanksgiving.

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE: Work begins on multiple areas of Springbrook's Main Campus

The week of October 12-17, 2010 will be very busy as ZMK Construction works on multiple areas of the Springbrook Main Campus.

Construction Timeline
Remediation will start on the school beginning 10/11/10 and will continue for up to 10 days. The areas of the school under construction are highlighted in purple on this map. NOTE: There will be considerable noise involved with the removal of the waterproofing materials and excavation along the existing foundation.

The stairs leading from the School's west side up to Sunshine and Snell houses will be removed sometime between Tuesday, October 12 and Friday, October 22 as a part of the remediation. Because of heavy construction traffic on the upper road, staff and residents of Snell and Sunshine Houses will soon be bussed everywhere on campus. There will also be a traffic guard at the intersection of the road and the house driveways.

The contractors will also be working on cutting the new road for the residential area into the existing hillside.

Upcoming Parking Changes
Effective immediately, all Springbrook staff and visitors are required to have a parking permit to park on Springbrook's Main Campus or Krol's lot. All Main Campus employees are issued one parking permit. If you have more than one vehicle, please provide Jennifer or Jessica with secondary/tertiary vehicle information. If you have any questions, please call Jennifer at Ext. 302 or Jessica at Ext. 316.

Contractor HQ
The site contractor will be working on Work Zone #1 (in the field across from the school) to prepare for job trailers and the building material staging areas. This area is now fenced off and is off limits to staff, residents and visitors.

Construction Update: Areas of Main Campus Fenced off for Construction

Upcoming Parking Changes

Effective Monday, October 4, 2010 work will start on fencing off two work zones on Springbrook's main campus, as outlined in red on this map. The first area is the construction area behind the school and the other is the construction lay down area in the field across from the school. These fenced off areas will be off-limits to all students, staff and visitors.

Because the upper road will see heavy construction traffic, staff and residents of Snell and Sunshine Houses will soon be bussed everywhere on campus. There will also be a traffic guard at the intersection of the road and the house driveways.

Updates on parking and roadway changes will be posted on the Parking Map page of Springbrook's Work Zone website.
